What started out as what we thought would be a four to six-week temporary situation in our world has now evolved into an ever-changing “new normal.” LIFT-UP continues to adapt to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic that has left so many unemployed, under-employed and worried about feeding their families. In addition, we have adjusted to impacts of school district distance learning, the extreme dry and dangerous fire season and the limitations of hot summer weather as well as the impending shorter winter days that are ahead of us, resulting in the ongoing challenges of finding consistent locations to manage our food distribution.
We continue to distribute non-perishable food bags, packed by staff and volunteers in our Parachute Warehouse (previously our Parachute LIFT-UP Thrift Store), along with fresh produce and meat from our Grocery Rescue and Farm to Food Pantry programs. We are still seeing more than 1,600 families each month at our weekly drive-through distribution sites in Parachute, Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs and Carbondale, plus additional families in DeBeque each month.
Although tremendously blessed with donations and support over the last few months, it is your financial donations that will allow us to continue to provide food to help individuals and families through this unprecedented time.
